Inclusion

Inclusive education means that all students, regardless of their cognitive and physical strengths or weaknesses are a part of the school community.

The Beaver County BCCTC welcomes students with disabilities.  Federal law, the amendments stated in IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) make it clear that all schools have the duty to educate children in general classroom or the least restrictive environment with the non-disabled peers.

IDEA requires that children with disabilities be educated in regular education classrooms unless "the nature and severity of the disability is such that education in regular classes with the use of supplementary aides and services cannot be achieved satisfactorily".

To that end, the Beaver County BCCTC is committed to providing services for special education students in the regular education environment as well as pull-outs services as needed.

Inclusion services that may be provided in the classroom:

Ø

In-class assistance for theory or shop, individualized or groups

Ø

In-class assistance tutoring in math and English skills

Ø

Tools and strategies to integrate hands-on activities for theory

Ø

Learning tools and strategies for students to improve comprehension, reading skills, tactile learning or the like

Ø

Assistance with test modification and test assistance in the classroom
