Anything that is manufactured or built requires precise
plans which are worked out in minute detail by drafters.
Drafters work from rough sketches, specifications, and calculations made
by scientists, designers, engineers, and architects. They also
calculate strength, quality, cost, and quantity of materials.
Drafters usually specialize in a particular field such
as Architectural, Civil, Electronic, Electrical, Mechanical, Structural,
or Aeronautical Drafting.
Drafting students will learn the graphic languages of
mechanical, architectural, structural, and mapping drafters.
Students will also be given instruction in applied math and applied
physics. Some students can obtain math and/or science credits
by taking this class. Students will receive CAD competency based
instruction using Auto CAD, Auto Architecture, Auto Mechanical, Auto
Shade, Auto Solid, and Software.
Finally, students will be given instruction in basic
surveying technology. As a result of this training, students will
earn up to 10 credits at CCBC and be given advance standing at Pittsburgh
Technical Institute, Triangle Tech, and Gateway Tech. Seniors will
also participate in working for local engineering firms through the co-op
program. |
