Cooperative Education Program

The Cooperative Education Program is a combined effort of the educational system and business and industry to produce well trained and qualified employees for the local labor market.  The program is a capstone program and is designed to help the student bridge the gap between school and employment.

Senior students participating in the Cooperative Education program divide their time between school and work.  They must attend their home high school for half a day each school day and are released from class time at the BCCTC to work for a career related business or company.  Students receive a grade for this work experience.  Cooperative Education is a part of the regular high school program, and students can satisfy graduation requirements while participating in the program.

Cooperative Education is a unique plan of education designed to integrate classroom and occupational study with a planned, supervised, paid work experience.

The program provides an opportunity for students to take the skills they have acquired in the classroom and apply them to a job situation.
