Nurse Aide Assistant I and II

Mrs. Theresa Cairns

ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAM OUTLINE

NURSE AIDE-ASSISTANT I & II TRAINING PROGRAM

This is a 135-hour course designed to train a Nurse Aide Assistant who can function effectively and safely in a long or short term care hospital, extended care facility, or home. The course term requirement is broken into 85 classroom hours and 50 clinical hours.

The content of the course is divided into classroom, laboratory, and clinical education, which provides learning experiences that will enhance each student’s competency in the program area.

Clinical practice is provided in a long term care facility. This is an extension of the classroom to utilize the resources of the nursing facility in order to teach the application of skills for direct patient care. Clinical education will be supervised and directed by the instructor.

A competency-based teaching approach to knowledge and skill development is used to evaluate each student objectively for achievement of acceptable performance of the specific learning objectives.

Graduates of the program achieve certification by successfully passing the competency evaluation of the State Department of Education. The additional cost of the competency evaluation testing procedure will be at the expense of each student. Please contact administration concerning additional cost of the program.
