Program Philosophy

The Beaver County Area Vocational Technical School recognizes that students have varied degree of abilities and needs. To that end, we believe that in order for students with exceptionalities to succeed in their selected program, the goal and purpose of a vocational education learning support program is to provide assistance, modifications and adaptations to the regular education core vocational curriculum as outlined by the students Individualized Education Plan or IEP. Industry standards, craft committees and Pennsylvania State Standards drive individual vocational programs; our goal is to remove the barriers that prevent students from achieving those standards.

In order to achieve our goal, students should be willing to request and accept assistance and modifications from the learning support staff and instructors.

All students are expected to develop strong work ethics, improve their reading, writing, math skills which would translate into greater opportunity to successfully complete their selected program.
