The Machine Tool Technology Program trains students to
use metal working machine tools to cut, shape, and grind metal to precise
forms, sizes, and specifications.
The Machine Tool Technology Program is two years long
and includes machine tool programming and operation, trade theory, and
blueprint reading. Beaver County Area Vocational-Technical School has a state-of-the art machine shop that includes the very latest computer
numerically controlled machine tools and software. Students learn the safe
and proper procedures to set up and operate the machines and tools of the
trade. Instruction is also given in precision measurement accurate to 1/30
the thickness of a human hair.
Opportunity in precision metalworking has greatly
expanded. Right now, there is a shortage of qualified people to fill
apprenticeships. Many of our higher achieving students have been awarded
machinist apprenticeships sanctioned by the PA Department of Labor and
Industry BEFORE graduation! |
