Students pursuing any agricultural career such as
horticulture, floriculture, landscaping, and production agriculture will
benefit from this program.
All students are trained in general curriculum-studying
subjects such as plant growth and soil science. Students will then choose
an elective to best meet their individual career needs.
Students interested in horticulture and floriculture
will concentrate their time in the greenhouse working with growing plants
and flowers. The Beaver County BCCTC has one of the largest instructional
greenhouses in Pennsylvania. In addition, students may choose work with
the arrangement of flowers and other decorative materials, constructing
projects such as: centerpieces, corsages, and wreaths.
Those interested in landscaping and mechanics will
specialize in the repair and maintenance of small engines, operation of
agricultural equipment on the BCCTC property, and other shop skills such as
arc welding and the use of shop tools.
The Beaver County BCCTC has an active
chapter in the Future Farmers of America in which all students are urged
to actively participate. |
